Artist's Description
This is an image of an original oil painting on canvas from my Blue Mountains (Australia) series. It depicts a view of a creek in Glenbrook Gorge in the lower Blue Mountains, New South Wales, part of a Unesco World Heritage listed area. The eucalyptus leaves of the young tree in the foreground catch the sunlight through them, which brings out the reds and purples of the new growth. It is a calm day with soft, overcast lighting. The surface of the pool in the creek shows gentle ripples caused by ducks, but it is otherwise still and mirrors the Eucalyptus forest trees and the lichen-covered sandstone rocks.
