Panoramic view of Shem Creek, South Carolina... Mornings on Shem Creek are so very beautiful! We recently had the pleasure of visiting this area at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This photograph was taken in early morning, near sunrise, when everything was so peaceful and serene. Shem Creek is best known for its traditional historic charm, and its waterfront area is home to numerous shrimp boats and chartered trawlers throughout its harbor. The boardwalk along Shem Creek is host to numerous upscale restaurants and bars filled with vibrant and energetic nightlife. Over 2,200 feet long, the handsome boardwalk offers panoramic views of the marsh and Charleston Harbor. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the beautifully serene Price Lake is a lovely place to spend the day. The site features canoeing, kayaking and fishing, along with hiking and walking trails, and offers a gorgeous view of Galloway Peak on Grandfather Mountain. As a travel photographer, I spend a lot of time on the Blue Ridge Parkway of western North Carolina. On this particular day, I came across this beautiful scene in a peaceful alcove on Price Lake. It was a welcoming sight on a lovely Sunday day trip!

I watched him for the better part of thirty minutes. Truth is, he was probably watching me. Smiles. I had my shutter speed set for fast action, and was ready for him to take flight. I thought. What I ended up with, instead of a picture of him in flight, was his coming in for a graceful landing on the water. Such elegance, with not a care in the world! Isn’t that what we all want... To be graceful, elegant, with not a care in the world, coming in for a graceful landing. I think we could all probably learn a lot from this guy.

During my trip to Maine, the coastal area near Kennebunk became the canvas for an unexpected masterpiece. Storm clouds gathered, but I found magic in the challenge. My goal was to capture a beautiful morning sunrise, but the weather didn’t seem to cooperate... A storm with dark swirling clouds was approaching our direction from over the ocean, yet I was blessed to see these beautiful cresting waves, with the early morning sun breaking through the clouds.

Wilson Creek is such a sweet little stream located in beautiful Grayson County, Virginia... I never tire of its beauty. It’s shown here in late Autumn a couple of years ago. The surrounding community, known as Mouth of Wilson, was named after a young surveyor named Wilson who died and was buried in a creek while surveying the line between Virginia and North Carolina in 1749. Thus, the creek itself was named Wilson Creek.
